This page contains content on features that may be included in a future update.
These features have been mentioned by a mod developer on the official discord server, or were included in an alpha or beta build, but have not been officially released yet.

The following page documents all of the planned features in the mod. These are features that have been discussed by a mod developer that will be added in a future update.

Note that the following page documents content that is has been mentioned by Tslat that is most likely going to happen. Teasers on this page that don't have a version number as a part of their source are automatically implied to be for the next major update.[1]

Update plans[ | ]

Over the past few years, updates to Advent of Ascension focused on upgrading the mod to make it better. Nowadays, updates to the mod are still going to focus on upgrading it, including finishing upgrading skills, dimensions, and bosses.

In the past since Tslat took over, the mod's update schedule saw larger updates being released 1-3 times a year. However, a new issue has come to light in recent times that caused Tslat (the developer) to decide to change how updates will be released. Updates will now be released more frequently, but they will be much smaller. They will still focus on upgrading the mod.

The primary issue that caused this change was the want to update Advent of Ascension past 1.16.5. Most of Advent of Ascension's mob models are not compatible with future Minecraft versions by default. While the developers could manually fix them all (e.g.: by remaking them all from scratch), this is a waste of time, as there are already plans to remake them all anyway to upgrade them (see Wood Giant for an example).

This means that Advent of Ascension cannot be updated past 1.16.5 until every single mob model that hasn't been redone already is redone. While the mod could have stayed on 1.16.5 until this was complete, this poses other issues: there are features in future Minecraft versions that would be nice to take advantage of when upgrading the mod's content. It would be a waste of time to upgrade the mod's content on 1.16.5, then reupgrade it using features from future Minecraft versions. So the mod needs to port before too much work can be done. But as it was already established, porting is impossible due to the incompatible mob models.

To solve this issue, the developers are rebuilding the mod slowly. Rather than straight port the entire mod to future Minecraft versions (because that cannot be done), the mod is slowly being rebuilt on 1.18.2+. For the time being, all versions of the mod on 1.18.2+ are incomplete versions that are missing most mobs and dimensions. As time goes on, the developers are slowly releasing updates for 1.18.2+ that add back a little bit of the mod at a time, with the features that they are adding back being upgraded.

Only the latest Minecraft version will ever be worked on at a time. Right now, that version is 1.19.3. Other 1.19.x subversions below 1.19.3 and 1.18.2 will never see another update for the mod ever again, and will never become completed. Players should not play any version of the mod 1.18.2+ in survival as they are not finished, though the player can play them in creative.

1.16.5 may still receive updates to fix bugs if necessary, but no future features from 1.18.2+ will be backported.

Any comments about the future updates can be asked on the mod's Discord server, or in the comments section of this page.

Advent of Ascension Wiki[ | ]

The Advent of Ascension Wiki is going to be updated with 1.18.2+ content as soon as it becomes available to do so. Content not upgraded on a 1.18.2+ version will instead remain documented with info from the latest 1.16.5 version of the mod. The wiki editors do not want to maintain both 1.16.5 and 1.18.2+ information at the same time if they differ, there are not enough editors to be able to do that (only 1-2 active editors usually).

Since there have been questions regarding 1.18.2+ vs 1.16.5 differences, some 1.16.5 info is provided below for convenience:
