Goblins are common ranged mobs found in the Overworld.

Spawning

Goblins spawn naturally in Forest, Plains, and Extreme Hills biomes. They can spawn in groups of up to 4 and can spawn at any light level. Goblins can only spawn if their spawning block is a grass block, dirt, or stone.

Behavior

When alone, goblins wander around aimlessly, walking at slow speeds. When they spot a player, they will stand still and fire purple projectiles at the player at a constant rate. If the player moves out of their fire range, goblins will slowly walk towards the target player until back into range of fire. A goblin's projectiles do 4 (♥×2) damage upon hitting the player, no matter what the difficulty is. Goblins cannot do melee damage.

Goblins have the ability to pathfind, and can navigate mazes in order to get to the player.

Bestiary Entry

Goblins are generally considered a pest by most landowners and explorers, and are generally mostly well known for their destructive, provocative tendencies.

While technically a humanoid, Goblins are entirely unrelated to the human species, and evolved separately. Regardless of this, they have evolved some sort of primitive intellect, and are able to communicate with each other. They are also able to interact with a basic form of magic, which they primarily use to shoot high-energy projectiles at whomever or whatever they see fit.

They aren't considered aggressive, however their constant pestering and tendency to fire projectiles at nearby creatures has caused them to be treated as if they are aggressive. Deal with them with caution, as goblins like to work together, and can easily overwhelm if in groups.
