Amethyst is a gem found in the Overworld.
For the most part, Amethyst can be considered as an equivalent to Diamond. It is slightly more common, but generates in a larger range.
Obtaining
Mining
1 Amethyst drops when harvesting an Amethyst Ore block. The amount dropped can be increased with the Fortune enchantment.
Smelting
Amethysts can be obtained by smelting Amethyst Ore in a furnace, granting 3 vanilla Minecraft experience. As this prevents Fortune from boosting drops, it is not recommended.
