Spawning[edit | edit source]
Bonebacks spawn naturally in Savanna biomes and its variants in the Overworld. They can spawn at any light level, lighting up an area will not prevent them from spawning.
Bonebacks can only spawn on the following blocks: grass blocks, dirt, stone, gravel, sand, snow blocks, snow layer, and vanilla ore blocks. Bonebacks will not spawn on any other block.
Behavior[edit | edit source]
Bonebacks are melee mobs that will walk into the player to do damage. They have the ability to pathfind around obstacles to get to their target.
They are considered hunter mobs. Bonebacks will not take damage from normal player attacks until the player has a hunter level of 12 or above. Bonebacks can take damage however, from lava, regardless of the player's hunter level.
Bonebacks have minor knockback resistance when hit.
Drops[edit | edit source]
Boneback's only unique item drop is Bones. The amount of Bones dropped can be increased with the Looting enchantment, up until a maximum of 3 additional Bones with Looting III.
|Item Drops||Requires player?||Quantity||Rate|
Hunter experience[edit | edit source]
Bonebacks will give 24 hunter experience to the player's hunter skill when defeated by the player. In order to gain hunter experience, the player has to defeat the Boneback themselves, defeating the Boneback with lava will not cause it to give hunter experience.
Experience orbs[edit | edit source]
Bonebacks will drop 15 XP worth of vanilla experience orbs when defeated.
Bestiary entry[edit | edit source]
|“||Bonebacks are the stray dogs of the savannah. They're scrawny, boney, and rabid.
In the savannah, unlike most creatures, the Boneback has its feet split into two elongated tarsal structures. This allows the creature to minimise lost energy in traversing sandy surfaces due to retained surface tension.
In general, it's recommended to avoid these whenever possible, as they tend to be less than friendly when encountered.
Additionally, their excessively boney structure causes them to be fairly resistant to most attacks. Only those sufficiently trained in combat will recognise the required techniques to properly attack this creature.
