2.4, also known as the Land of the Dead, is a major update released on 21 September 2015.[1] It's most notable additions were two new dimensions, and the fragment temples. 11 bugfix updates have been released for 2.4, ranging from 2.4.1 to 2.4.10 and 2.4.B.

Changes[ | ]
Skill-Related[ | ]
- Vulcanism fully implemented and trainable.
- Skills are now toggled with the I key by default, instead of the C key.
Expedition[ | ]
- Tweaked how Expedition works slightly.
- Riding a horse can no longer be used to gain experience.
- Added three new modes as rewards for training skill, depending on the current mode determines the reward received.
- Wind beneath feet is now a mode.
- No reward is also an option.
- Modes can be toggled with the UP key by default. Can be changed in the Controls settings in the Options menu.
Infusion[ | ]
- Power Stones (excluding Ambient) now have a small (0.5%) chance to randomly drop off of creatures.
- Changed how Infusion works.
- Old method using glowstone dust has been replaced with a new method using Enhancers.
- Infusion Tables are no longer craftable directly. The recipe has been transferred to the Infusion Blueprint.
Calefaction[ | ]
- The Vitality bar was changed to the Battle Rage meter.
- Calefaction, Calefaction Armor, and the Calefaction Master were all replaced with their Extraction counterparts.
Other changes[ | ]
- Thermal armor was renamed to Battleborn Armor.
- The full set bonus was also changed.
- The Recreation Station now has a use.
- Banners hitboxes were shifted to the top half of the banner.
- All tea types now heal health instead of warmth.
- Heat Lamps are renamed to Life Lamps.
- Now named life lamps now regenerate health when the player is near them, instead of warmth.
- Campfires now regenerate health when the player is near them, instead of warmth.
